Crime Victims Assistance

What Services Are Provided?

Ability 1st receives funding from the Florida Office of the Attorney General to provide direct services for victims of crime. The Victims of Crime Assistance (VOCA) program staff work in the community, conducting home visits when necessary to meet the needs of each consumer.

How Does It Support Victims?

Services include but are not limited to personal advocacy, transportation and housing assistance, emotional support, crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referral.

Who Qualifies for Assistance?

Adults with an existing disability who are victims of a crime or adults who’ve become disabled because of a crime.

Who Is Ability1st?

In short, we are a community-based organization offering support services, advocacy, and information to empower people with disabilities to live independently. Ability1st is operated and governed by people with disabilities for people with disabilities.

The goal of all Centers for Independent Living is to empower people with disabilities to take charge of their lives and guide their own destinies. We are a community-based non profit organization that provides services to people with varying disabilities in Leon, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties.
