Core Service: Youth Transition Services

The Disability Resource Center of Panama City is dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities through crucial life transitions. Our Youth Transition Services are tailored to assist youth with disabilities in navigating post-secondary education pathways. We understand the challenges and uncertainties that come with this transition, and our goal is to make the process as smooth and empowering as possible.

Services include:

  • Personalized planning to align with each student’s aspirations and abilities.
  • Workshops and counseling on post-secondary education options, including vocational training and college.
  • Job readiness training, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
  • Connections to community resources and services that support independent living and personal development.

Our Transition Services are built on the principles of empowerment, choice, and independence. We strive to equip individuals with disabilities and their families with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to make informed decisions about their futures.

Who Benefits?

This service is for post-secondary youth up to their 25th birthday who had an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) when in school. We are committed to assisting you in achieving your goals for education, employment, and independent living.

In short, we are a community-based organization offering support services, advocacy, and information to empower people with disabilities to live independently. Ability1st is operated and governed by people with disabilities for people with disabilities.

The goal of all Centers for Independent Living is to empower people with disabilities to take charge of their lives and guide their own destinies. We are a community-based non profit organization that provides services to people with varying disabilities in Leon, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties.
