Youth Services

What Services Do We Offer?

Ability1st is grateful for the funding received through The Able Trust and Leon County Community Human Service Partnership. With these grants, we offer the High School High Tech (HSHT) program, specifically designed to provide high school students with disabilities the opportunity to explore jobs or postsecondary education leading to in-demand careers. Through program participation, students are provided transition services such as school-based preparatory experiences, career preparation and work-based learning, connecting activities, youth leadership and development, and communication skills.

What is the goal?

The overall goals of our youth services programming are to improve participation in education and vocational activities leading to increase employment opportunities for students with disabilities, increase enrollment in post-secondary education, increase graduation rates, and provide meaningful career preparation and work experiences.

Who Is Eligible to Participate?

Students enrolled in Leon or Wakulla County schools that have a documented disability. Additional transition services opportunities exist for high school graduates and youth no longer in secondary education that would continue to benefit from independent living skills.
